The Pick 7 Food Pantry is organized by St. Matthias Church at 101 E. Burrell Drive in Crown Point, IN. The food pantry supports families in need each month and is available to anyone. This is a favorite cause of Hometown Happenings as we would like to put an end to food insecurity in our community. Here is some more info provided by St. Matthias about the Pick 7 Food Pantry:
- The Pick 7 Food Pantry serves over 300 families each month.
- The food pantry purchases over 300 packages of toilet paper, in addition to laundry detergent and feminine products to ensure that each attendee has access to personal care products.
- The Pick 7 event provides hospitality to all guests & an opportunity to connect with the volunteers as they enjoy coffee, juice, milk & donuts.
- The Pick 7 Food Pantry is joyful, free of judgment, and always about giving without question.
- The food pantry works to secure grants to help fund each distribution but relies heavily on product & monetary donations.
- The food pantry has over 50 volunteers of all ages to ensure the success of each event. This makes for a great service project for both teens and families.
