In 1934, “Public Enemy #1” escaped from the Crown Point Jail using what he claimed was a wooden gun. In 2008, actor Johnny Depp came to Crown Point to portray the Hoosier bank robber in “Public Enemies”.
Featured at this Public Enemy 5k Run/10K Walk event:

- Crown Point Police K-9 demonstrations.
- The Tommy Gun used by John Dillinger in the months leading up to his death.
- Bring $5 & get your photo with a Hollywood Movie Car used in the films “Public Enemies” & “Road to Perdition”. Proceeds benefit the Crown Point K-9 Unit.
- Dillinger display & “2 for 1” tickets to the Dillinger Museum from the South Shore Convention & Visitors Authority.
- Costume Contests! Come dressed as a cop, gangster or flapper.
- Soap gun carving contests PLUS find a “money sack” on the course & win prizes!
- Post race snacks & pizza from Carriage Court Pizza & DJ music by DJ Donnie.
- Awards for Top Overall, Top Masters & Top 3 Finishers in each age group
- Raising money to help the Crown Point K-9 Unit purchase a new “bite suit” for training the dogs.
The COURSE: The timed Public Enemy 5K/10K Run/Walk takes place through the Fairgrounds. Included along this wooded route is a covered bridge, historic buildings and a scenic lake.
COST: Timed 5K/10K & non-timed 2K: $20 for adults, $10 for kids (12 & under) thru June 23rd. Shirts available thru June 19th at an extra cost of $12.
After June 23rd & on Race Day: $30. Limited # of shirts available for purchase at the event.
Packet Pickup:
Saturday 4:00 – 5:00 PM, Orangetheory Fitness, Crown Point, 852 N. Superior Drive (on Broadway in front of Aldi’s).
