Cedar Lake Club Offers Summer to Remember Through Boys & Girls Clubs’ Action-Packed Camp

“The summer program at Boys & Girls Clubs is designed to make every day feel special,” said Maggie Beezhold, Area Director for Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana. “We know many families are juggling work schedules and can’t always take time off. So we create the kind of experience where kids feel like they had the best summer ever.”
The Cedar Lake Club, like the other participating Clubs across the Region, offers early opening hours at 6:30 a.m. and stays open until 6 p.m., providing flexibility for drop-offs and pick-ups for working families. Each day begins with breakfast, followed by Summer Brain Gain, a nationally recognized program supported by Disney that keeps kids engaged through themed, weeklong lessons that combine fun with academic enrichment. BGC campers then dive into a wide array of rotating activities—from hands-on science experiments and art projects to sports, gaming, and other unique Club amenities. Whether challenging themselves on the basketball court, participating in e-sports, or enjoying gardening, kids are always on the move, learning and growing. “I feel like it’s our duty and responsibility to strike the right balance between fun and education,” said Dwayne Washington, another Area Director. “At Cedar Lake and across our Clubs, we’re the bridge that keeps kids thriving during the summer months.”
Field trips are another major highlight of Boys & Girls Clubs’ summer calendar, with a robust schedule featuring both local and regional adventures. Kids might visit the movie theatre, challenge themselves at an indoor trampoline park, or enjoy a day at the Indiana Dunes. Bigger excursions include visits to Chicago’s Shedd Aquarium, the Museum of Science and Industry, and Medieval Times. No two weeks are the same, and every child gets the chance to explore, discover, and have fun.
“I love the summer camp because it is an affordable and safe option for my children,” shared Nichole P., a parent of
three. “They always come home happy, and it gives me peace of mind knowing they’re enjoying new experiences every day.” Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana’s program is part of the organization’s commitment to keeping summer camp affordable for families across Northwest Indiana.

A summer-only membership is just $20, and weekly camp fees are kept low. Drop-in options are available, and teen members attend for free during dedicated Club hours. Discounts are also provided to school employees, military families, Anthem Medicaid cardholders, and foster families. Scholarships ensure that no child is turned away due to cost.
