Talk Around Town Tuesday – Kauffman Chiropractic by Lisa J.

Hometown Happenings is always grateful to our sponsors, and to express our appreciation we love to show the love through our Talk Around Town Spotlights. I am excited to bring you this week’s spotlight, because I am personally appreciative of their incredibly friendly staff, flexible schedule and Dr. Kristina. It was only a few months ago I discovered Kauffman Chiropractic and I would now consider myself a lifer.

Rewind 2 years ago to my first ever half marathon and a back injury I never thought I would recover from. I tried rest, ice, and therapy, but I was still in constant pain 2 years later. While at this past Hometown Happenings’ Run Like a Mother 5k Race, Kauffman Chiropractic had a booth where they were scanning your spine and offering discounted consultations. Weary about chiropractic due to misinformation, I waited until the end of the race activities to chat with their rep. After my scan lit up red, she was able to get me in the next day, meet with Dr. Kristina for an evaluation, get x-rayed and report back for recommendation and my first adjustment. I don’t know if my results are typical, but after my first adjustment, the pain subsided, and my healing began. Once a skeptic, now a true believer, and I am forever grateful.

Oddly enough, Kauffman Chiropractic was on Hometown’s spotlight list for some time, but I missed a critical email. While I don’t believe in coincidence, I’m convinced it was so I could give my own testimony and get some insight from both Dr. Bob and Dr. Kristina Kauffman.

Why you started the business or what got you interested in being a chiropractor?

Bob Kauffman: I think all of us love the challenge of getting people well naturally without the use of drugs and surgery – and keeping them that way. For me, it was watching My father get good results with chiropractic care as a young child. It impressed me, so much I wanted to be a chiropractor when I grew up.

Kristina Kauffman: I didn’t choose it— it chose me. My parents Drs. Bob and Danielle Kauffman met in chiropractic college in the 80s. Inevitably, I have been ‘well- adjusted’ since birth (yes.. babies can be adjusted, too!). As I grew into my own individuality, there was no denying the wonders of chiropractic care and how it can serve to heal body mind and spirit. It’s the right fit.

What service you offer and/or why should someone see a chiropractor?

Bob Kauffman: We offer pain relief, strengthening and mobility maintenance with cases ranging from lowback problems, shoulder pain to text neck.

Kristina Kauffman: We see you as an individual with your own unique story that lead you to where you currently are. LIFE happens— it literally shapes you and thus sometimes the product needs refining and adjusting. We recognize the process of life and offer corrections to where the spine needs a little help as well as offer you tools for lasting wellness.

Your mission statement of philosophy of working with patients?

Bob Kauffman: Relieve, Stabilize and Maintain keeping patients “young” their 1st 100 years

Kristina Kauffman: Discover, heal, live a wellness lifestyle and optimize your life’s experience.

Most interesting story from your business.

Bob Kauffman: (I think it’s working on “Big Bird” but it may be something else!) Well, actually I think it was Bert and Grover, Pervis Jackson of the Spinners, and countless local athletes, workers, and service members. Or having people get relief for something they didn’t come in for in addition to their chief complaint – like headache relief, in addition to resolving their neck pain.

Kristina Kauffman: Just the day to day ‘grind’ that doesn’t feel like much of a grind at all. Watching people open up and be well. Learning from the people who come into the office. Incorporating yoga and chiropractic and noticing how beautifully those two align. Daily ‘miracles’ of alleviation of issues that are function related— i.e digestion, sleeping, coordination. Improvements to emotional and mental health. Witnessing a re-discovery of who people are and what they are capable of. When you’re well aligned, cool things just happen. It all rocks.

With offices in Merrillville and Crown Point, Kauffman Chiropractic is close to home, family owned, and ready to help you get aligned. Offering adjustments along with an overall wellness regimen, including therapy and massage, you will be happy you called. Check them out at https://www.kauffmanchiros.com/ or contact their office for your consultation at 219-736-7363 or 219-663-9855.

Thank you, Kauffman Chiropractic, for your support of Hometown Happenings and helping me obtain a well-adjusted, pain free life.

Also, don’t forget Public Enemy 5K/2K is this Sunday, 8 am at the Fairgrounds! Don’t miss the K-9 presentation, a great run through the park, a Hollywood star and a little history.
