Have you ever worked really hard at something and stopped to ask yourself, “Why”?
Whenever I do something particularly challenging, I will often ask myself, “Why?” For example, when I am up for 
my early morning run, I remind myself that I want to stay in shape – and make up for the late-night snacks!
For the Hometown Market, my partners Abby, Don & I put in a great deal of effort every week. We are creating a new community event each and every week. Why do we do it? Why have a Market? Weill, it turns out, there are lots of “Whys”:
- The Market provides a community activity where families or friends can come out and enjoy themselves. We love helping people create fun memories, especially with their kids.
- The Market showcases artists, crafters and new businesses. We have had young women who make their own jewelry in order to help pay towards college. Some have Etsy stores and this is their first time trying to sell at a public market. We LOVE the creativity and being able to give a venue for these artists to showcase their work.
- The Market supports our small, local Crown Point businesses and gives them an additional opportunity to gain exposure and sell their products. We become kids again when
Toys in the Attic comes out with their fun items… including a rocket launcher that you can test out! - The Market connects all of us to our bigger community. Each week, the Market highlights a different group making a difference for our community – from Pets N Vets to St. Jude House to Meals on Wheels. Our Community Table allows such groups to spread the word and gather donations. We have also had many adoptable pets find their forever home at the Market.
- The Market showcases local musicians and performers. The Market allows you to grab dinner and drinks with family and friends while listening to different performers each & every week. Besides guitarists and bands, the Market has featured a jazz quintet, a magician & a local dance troupe.

- First and foremost, join us at a Market! We are at the Lake County Fairgrounds in Crown Point every Tuesday from 5-8 pm.
- SHARE our posts on facebook. Join our facebook group or just tell a friend. Word spreads quickly when it’s a friend telling a friend.
- If you are part of – or know someone who is – a vendor, a musician or performer, or in a community group… tell them about the Market. We are still accepting vendors and still have openings for local talent.
